Strategic Technology Planning |

The strategic technology plan should forward the goals of any company’s business plan by supporting the initiatives of the company. Not technology for technology sake but technology that either makes money or saves money for the company.
Creating a strategic technology plan using no more than a 3 year timeline gives the company a technology direction, clearly defined goals and the ability to budget for these initiatives. As with any business plan, the technology plan should be revisited and revised on a regular basis or at the least as business conditions warrant.
The plan should include network infrastructure, security, desktop strategies, software strategies, infrastructure management including applications that support the various business units. The plan is a map, and may contain budget numbers, but does not include detail and selection for each of the goals in question. Each element of the plan becomes a specific, separate project with all that project planning entails.
